Summer Knitting
While it may not be the time for everyone to work on afghans or huge woolly sweaters, summer is a great time for knitting and crochet!
We have several fun and vibrant warm weather yarns. Cindy has finished two great summer tops recently: a cap-sleeve shell in Frog Tree's new pima cotton/bamboo blend, and a swingy vest in Katia Linen.
Small projects are perfect summer knitting. Hats, socks, dishcloths, and baby items are perfect for carrying along on your summer travels, or sitting on the front porch on a warm evening.
Don't forget lace! We have some lovely new lace and fingering yarns.
Stop by to check out the new shop samples on display. Remember, we have loads of single sheet patterns, for any project you could want.
Tuesday night Sit n' Stitch is going strong. Bring your knitting or crochet project, and come work, talk, laugh with fellow stitchers! We have people working at every level, and always have a great time!

The Winter/Spring Class schedule is here. There are some fun projects and techniques to learn.
While you're here, take a look at our bookshelf. It's full to brimming with wonderful new titles.

Oregon Grown yarn is here!
It's so new, they're pricing it as I type this!
We now carry all 4 yarn lines from Imperial Stock Ranch.
For over 150 years, this Shaniko, OR company has been raising sheep and cattle in the high desert. Their headquarters is a National Historic District and they are committed to sustainable farming practices and wildlife restoration.
The yarns come from Columbia sheep, and are custom milled with no harsh chemical or heat treatments. The wool stays soft, yet durable.
We carry the sock yarn, 2-ply worsted, Lopi, and pencil rovings.
The pencil roving is a great substitute for the unspun yarns used in Elizabeth Zimmermann's books. It can be knit with as is, used for thrums, felted, or even spun.
We have some great patterns from Imperial Stock, too.
Stop by and explore this bit of Oregon history.
And do check out their website for more information on the history of this unique company.

Fall is here!
The nights are getting cold, and the change of seasons is palpable.
Perfect time to get back into the knitting spirit. Start a sweater, or a lovely afghan to snuggle under. A cool breeze reminds us of hats, scarves, and mittens.
We have some great new yarns to inspire you.
Rowan Cocoon is a plump, lofty singles yarn with 80% merino, 20% kid mohair. Even if you think you don't like mohair, give this yarn a squeeze. Rowan uses the softest kid mohair I've ever felt.
~100 gr, 126 yds; 3.5 st/in on US 10.5 or 11
Also new from Rowan, Colourscape Chunky is Kaffe Fasset's latest contribution. 100% lambswool, this singles yarn comes in a range of eye-catching colorway.
~100 gr, 175 yds; 3.5 st/in on US 10.5
Scottish Tweed Aran is a great two-ply 100% wool, perfect for sturdy and warm sweaters.

Fairisle and stranded colorwork just got more exciting! Whether you have been knitting in pattern for years, or are just dipping your toe in, Natural Shetland Fingering is a great yarn. A collaboration between Elemental Affects and Judith MacKenzie, the smaller put-up and extensive color range (42 dyed and 9 natural colors) make it easy to get glorious color in your projects. 100% North American Shetland wool.
